Pachamanca Experience

We are the most unique and memorable culinary experience you can have during your stay in the Andes. In Quechua, Pachamanca means "earthen pot" and is the epitome of traditional Andean cuisine. This culinary tour gives you a front-row seat to see how the ingredients for this particular dish, which includes a variety of vegetables, meat, and potatoes wrapped in banana leaves, are prepared and then buried underground, cooked to perfection over hot stones. Afterward, enjoy your Pachamanca feast.

Day 01: Cusco - Chillipawa town.

Our trip will start early; We will leave for Paropiso (3,171 feet), which will take us approximately one hour. During the first three hours of this trek, we will climb a gentle slope, which offers excellent views of the Urubamba snow-capped mountain range. After this, we will arrive at the Inca ruins of What's at almost 12,400 feet, where we will stop to explore the destination, have a history lesson with the local guide, and then have lunch. Afterwards, we will walk for almost three more hours until we reach the camp and then we will have dinner. On the way, we will have a short break in the town of Huarocondo; this is a settlement famous for providing the most delicious Lechón (roasted pork) in Cusco.

Day 02: Indigenous experience and healthy food

A day with the villagers: service project, ceremony, dance, local food. They will share their passion for culture and history in this indigenous town, an interactive experience that will immerse you in a journey from the past of an Inca culture to the world of the descendants of the Incas today in the town of Chillipahua. Witness everyday life and celebrate the colorful culture of modern-day natives as it unfolds before your eyes. Hear the sounds of their tongue, learn about traditional home remedies, savor a traditional Andean meal, make new friends, and see the world through their eyes. Participate in the local gastronomy, based and produced in permaculture processes, which are presented as healthy and organic food products to the delight of tourists.

Day 03: Chillipawa - Ancascocha Valley

On this day, we will wake up with a large cup of coca tea that one of our cooks will serve you in his tent. After drinking this tea, we will enjoy a sumptuous breakfast and prepare for the second day of trekking. Slowly we will begin to walk towards the highest pass of this Trek, which is known as Acoccasa (15,000 feet). This pass is still the ideal place to take photos, as it offers spectacular views of the Ausangate (20,931 feet) and Chicón (18,143 feet) peaks. After taking a break at the pass, we will walk downhill for about an hour until we reach our lunch spot. After a great lunch, we will walk downhill for about three more hours until we reach camp for the night in the Ancascocha Valley (12,400ft). We promise to follow this itinerary as accurately as possible.

Day 04: Ancascocha Valley - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes.

This morning we will get up early and have breakfast. Then we'll pack up camp and leave early. We will begin our gradual descent for almost three hours through the Ancascocha Valley until we reach the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way, we will enjoy the enchanting views of Veronica Mountain, at 19,193 feet, the highest peak in the Urubamba Mountain range. We will walk along an ancestral path built by the Incas until we reach the famous Intipunku or Puerta del Sol, where we will have a panoramic view of the entire Sacred Valley and Veronica; we will descend to the Inca quarries, where we will taste a delicious lunch, then we will explore the area, we will continue our walk towards Ollantaytambo until the train station, where we will leave to Aguas Calientes where we will rest.

Day 05: Aguas Calientes - Machupicchu - Cusco.

After a hot breakfast at the hotel, we will take the early bus to Machu Picchu; We will climb for an hour and a half until we reach the Machu Picchu Mountain to have a panoramic view of the entire contour of the Inca Citadel, this will be a unique and unforgettable experience. You will then have a 2-to-3-hour tour to get the information about the sacred city and the opportunity to explore and admire the Inca ingenuity. Then we will return to Aguas Calientes by bus and to Cusco by train.
Note: If you want to do an excursion to the Wayna Picchu Mountain, you must inform Wari Adventures before traveling to Peru to book in advance.

Informative session

It will be held in the morning one day before departure. If the departure date is on a Monday, the briefing will take place on Saturday morning. Please keep this in mind when booking your flight to Cusco.
  • Transportation for the Camino de Ancascocha.
  • Tourist bus and transportation to the beginning of the adventure.
  • Tourist bus back from the Trek to Ollantaytambo.
  • Bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu (round trip).
  • Train departing from Aguas Calientes in the afternoon.

Camp staff on the Trek.

Professional tour guide with command of the English language, specialized in Trekking, with many years of experience and trained in first aid and rescue, who will attend you from the first to the last day of the Trek, leaving you at your hotel. Professional chef, kitchen assistant and waiter for customer service. Our chefs are culinary school graduates with many years of experience cooking in the mountains; we meet them at the beginning of the Trek. Horses, in charge of maintaining all the logistics of our trek (camping equipment, food) and carrying 8 kg of personal belongings for each client.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

DUFFEL BAGS

Duffel bags are small suitcases or bags used to store your personal belongings. These will be handed out to clients one day before the start of the hike at our offices. In them, you will place the personal belongings needed for the Trek. As part of your tour package, you will be assigning a porter, who will carry up to 8kg of your gear. You will hand your duffel bags to our porters on the first day of the hike. The duffels will be returning to you at each campsite. At the end of the hike, the duffels will be returning, something you will have to coordinate with your guide. The measurements are 65 cm long x 40 cm wide.

LUGGAGE STORAGE

The trips on the Inca Trail and alternate routes do not need to carry your luggage, for which we have luggage storage service in our office; if you return from your trip to the same hotel where you stayed, you can leave it. will return this equipment when you return from your trip and take it with you to your hotel. If you have valuable things, please contact us to take them into account and protect them.

PICK-UPS

will coordinate the pick-up times with the group leader; will do this from your hotel, lodging, and Airbnb, for which the passenger must provide the exact address and reference; the pick-up time is usually at 5:00 am for the different routes.

RETURN TO CUSCO

The return from the city of Machupicchu requires absolute punctuality for the transportation organization, for which we will provide all the return details. We buy the train tickets usually for 2:55 pm, so you can arrive at 7:00 pm in the city of Cusco, consider the time delay due to traffic in the city of Cusco. The return includes transportation and transfers; we will be pending any change or delay in transportation and train services.
