DESCRIPTION

The Valley of the Incas Indigenous Experience transforms into the mountains from the village of Ollantaytambo and is a beautiful place to learn more about an Andean culture by spending a day with members of their community. They live by farming and weaving intricate textiles, two ancient traditions that have survived for hundreds of years to the present day, and this day visit is an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in their way of life for a brief period. The icing on the cake will be a traditional lunch you will prepare with the locals, mostly with ingredients from their fields.

ITINERARY

We will pick you up at your hotel with our private van to take you to the indigenous community of Chillipahua, where we will spend the day. In addition to observing the daily life of the community going on around you, you will have the opportunity to visit the ladies weaving traditional Andean tapestries and garments, go out into the fields to see how they farm (and even lend a hand in the harvest!), see how they raise guinea pigs and other animals. One of the most exciting activities of the day will be to participate in the preparation of watia, a traditional way of preparing food in a stone oven, which we will later eat! This moving experience is also ideal for families with children and is suitable for people of all fitness levels, as it does not necessarily require much walking. When you have said goodbye to your new acquaintances, we will transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley.
