Sacred Valley of the Incas Photo Tours: feel the pulse of ancient history on this 2-day photographic journey through one of Peru's most timeless regions: the Valley of the Incas, photographing traditional Quechua markets, the impressive terraced salt mines of Maras, Pisac with its huge cultivation terraces, sunrise and sunset at the sun temple of Ollantaytambo. Through photography, this tour tries to bring to life the ancient Inca temples, the indigenous people, and their Inca cobblestone streets. We believe the best way to see and explore a place is with your camera in tow. And it's not about taking pictures so you can remember moments later; for us, it's about the journey and the moment itself. The magnificent Inca ruins from Pisac to Ollantaytambo and beyond, some of the finest not only in Peru but in all of the Americas, are testimony to the immense ceremonial importance of the region. The Incas built several of the empire's largest haciendas, temples, and royal palaces between the sacred centers of Cusco and Machu Picchu placed like great bookends at the southern and northern ends of the valley. A perfect destination with breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks of the Urubamba Range. Our photo vacations, excursions, tours, and trips are unique in that they help you see the genuine side of the city, encourage you to explore off the beaten tourist path, and teach you how to take great photos. Join us and rediscover your wild Photographer.DAY 1: Visit the Inca Site of Pisac, Typical Market of Urubamba, Inca Site of Ollantaytambo, Ollantaytambo Village, and Sunrise Shooting in Ollantaytambo Village.
Early today morning, we head out for a full day of photographic exploration of the Urubamba Valley, the enchanting "Sacred Valley of the Incas ."Shortly after leaving Cusco. On the way, visit a center where South American camelids, such as llamas and alpacas, are raised, an excellent place to hunt these animals. Learn about the valuable fibers created from their coats and feed these iconic animals. Our next photo stop will be at the exceptionally well-preserved ruins of Pisac, which provide us with the opportunity for a brief warm-up walk as we take photographs of the site's various structures and terraces before descending to the town of Pisac and its bustling handicrafts market, where we explore this colorful market while taking amazing photographs. After researching, we travel through the Sacred Valley to Calca, a small town in the Sacred Valley, We will then continue to Urubamba, where we will have lunch. Our next journey is through the same valley, passing Inca terraces and fields of corn, wheat, barley, and quinoa, to finally reach the town of Ollantaytambo, where an impressive sun temple is located. It is located on a hill, formed by rocks brought from 4 miles away. We will take our time to take unique photos with our creative tour guide. We then explore the town of Ollantaytambo, whose street plan maintains its original Inca layout. After the conquistadors took Cusco, Manco Inca and his army of approximately 30,000 retreated to Ollantaytambo and won victory here against the forces of Spanish commander Hernando Pizarro in the Battle of Ollantaytambo. After a photo tour of the city and the remarkable ruins of the same name. In the afternoon, we head to our hotel located in the same valley at the time of our check-in at the arrival hotel. Our tour continues on the slope of the Pinkuylluna mountain, in front of the sun temple of Ollantaytambo, where some Inca constructions perch on the hillside, and the perfect place to photograph the sunset, with the backdrop of the mountains and the Inca ruins. Then, dinner after dinner, we have the opportunity to go to the hotel's garden to take some pictures of the night sky. Meals are not included.DAY 2: Sunrise shot at the Inca site of Chinchero, the Inca site of Moray, the village of Maras, the salt mines of Maras, and the Andean hills.
We will have our early breakfast at the hotel to embark on a full-day exploration of the western side of the Urubamba Valley. We travel to the charming high Andean village of Chinchero, with a beautiful colonial church and Inca temples, a perfect place to photograph the sunrise. Next, we visit a textile cooperative and learn more about the weaving traditions passed down among the local people for centuries, a great place to take amazing photographs of Andean textiles. Our next photographic destination will be the Inca ruins of Moray. The circular terraces of Moray were used as an agricultural "research laboratory" for the Incas, who studied the variation in temperature from one terrace to another to develop different varieties of crops. We continue to the small town of Maras and the picturesque salt mines. Initially used by the pre-Inca and Inca culture, villagers from the surrounding communities still extract salt by hand from the terraced pools fed by springs. We will finish our Sacred Valley photography session in this incredible place. In the afternoon, we return to our hotel. Breakfast and packed lunch included.INCLUDES
